Writer's Block: Are you incentivized?

Are there any buzz words or catch-phrases--such as incentivize or at the end of the day--that make you cringe? What are they, and why do you hate them?

"threw him under the bus"
"critique" used as a verb
misuse of "socialist", "communist", "fascist"

"threw him under the bus" So. Overused! Yes. And the last, well ... pretty much anything that comes out of Glenn Beck's mouth I'm sick of.

Officemate and I were talking about our crazy-weird boss and how she's going to infect us with her vocabulary. Anything that has been done or said "landed." "I wanted to see how that landed." "I know we're on track to land this project." "Oh, that memo didn't land well." Or when she's going to talk through her thought processes: "I'm just going to put this on audio for a moment." It's like she's an alien from Weirdjargonland.

Or maybe just a nervous ex-pilot?

I know! It took me a ridiculously long time to even figure out what that meant!

"I want to see 110% from all of you" annoys the hell out of me. Especially since it's usually being said by someone who wants me to work very, very hard, lol.

Only mildly related, but one of the baseball channels did an interview blooper reel type thing, and there was a bit about 110%: a montage of a bunch of players, coaches, and managers saying it, and then one player going, "I never understood what that was supposed to mean." :D

Who do you think you are, the word police? Now, if I may critique your misguided communist understanding of these terms, all you've done here is take the first amendment and throw it under the bus. A socialist bus.

Stop trying to oppress us, facist.

B-but critique can be a verb. *scratches head*

In theory, it should always "to criticize". But people assume that criticize must always have a negative connotation, so they use critique, and it bugs the crap out of me.

There is a coworker that begins every explanation with "The thing is", and then follows it up with several more in the same explanation. He also doesn't know when to shut up and frequently talks just to hear himself talk. Thankfully, I have begun to learn how to minimize my interactions with him, but when his cubicle is fewer than ten feet away...it's difficult.
