Frankenmix 16.0 - Summer in the City Mix

I'm slowly catching up on 13-15; they should be up in the next few days or so.

Frankenmix explanation here. Files up in SendSpace soon now.

Frankenmix 16.0 [Aug 07]
Summer in the City Mix

1. A song for shredding paperwork: “Born to Run” – Bruce Springsteen
In the day we sweat it out in the streets of a runaway American dream
At night we ride through mansions of glory in suicide machines

2. A song to howl along with: “Behind the Moon” – Matt Costa
Now here I come
To dance around the sun
I've been oh so blue
Stuck behind the moon

3. A song for frustrated ambition: “How to Save a Life” – The Fray
Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

4. A song that speaks to your fears: “Not Pretty Enough” – Kasey Chambers
I live, I breathe
I let it rain on me
I sleep, I wake
I try hard not to break
I crave, I love
I've waited long enough
I try as hard as I can

5. A song you wouldn't throw out of bed, if it came to that: “Mio Bello Bello Amore” – Zumanity
Mio bello bello bello amore
Sei il mio paradiso
When you say I'm yours
When you ask me to stay

6. A song for the days when you're Don Quixote: “Man of La Mancha” – Linda Eder
I am I, Don Quixote, the Lord of La Mancha
My destiny calls and I go
And the wild winds of fortune will carry me onward
Oh whither so ever they blow

7. A song for will-they-won't-they: “Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps” - Cake
You won't admit you love me.
And so how am I ever to know?
You only tell me
perhaps, perhaps, perhaps.

8. A song for a surfeit of love: “Did You Ever Have to Make Up Your Mind” – The Lovin’ Spoonful
Did you ever have to finally decide
Say yes to one and let the other one ride
There's so many changes and tears you must hide
Did you ever have to finally decide

9. A song for a slow drive through the desert: “Homeward Bound” – Simon & Garfunkel
And each town looks the same to me,
The movies and the factories
And ev'ry stranger's face I see
Reminds me that I long to be,
Homeward bound

10. A song like chamomile tea: “Pie Jesu” – Sarah Brightman
Pie Jesu, pie Jesu, pie Jesu, pie Jesu
Qui tollis peccata mundi
Dona eis requiem, dona eis requiem

11. A song you wish you had (or could have) listened to as a 15-year-old: “Complainte de la Butte” – Rufus Wainwright
La lune, trop blême,
Pose un diadème
Sur tes cheveux roux.

12. A song you keep wanting to delete from your hard drive, but can't: “Venus in Furs” – The Velvet Underground
Shiny, shiny, shiny boots of leather
Whiplash girlchild in the dark
Clubs and bells, your servant, dont forsake him
Strike, dear mistress, and cure his heart

[Entertainingly enough, the computer deleted this one for me, during the last crash, but I know I'll wind up putting it back on. *facepalm*]

13. A song that sets you giggling (at least in theory): “Baby One More Time” – Fountains of Wayne
My loneliness is killin' me
I must confess I still believe
When I'm not with you I lose my mind
Give me a sign

[Actually, I like this version much better than the original. Honestly, I think it makes a lot more sense this way.]

14. A song you listened to this morning: “Rescue Me” – The Alarm
Running all my life
Running all my day
Running through the night
Seems like forever
