Frankenmix 18.5 - Early Morning Mix

Yeah, so C and her friend getting back at around 10 totally killed two work hours. But the astronomy homework is done. So post this, then shower, then outline for the history exam make-up tomorrow, and I'm good to go. Or something.

Again, more abstract than I usually do. And a lot more instrumental, too.

Frankenmix explanation here. Files up in SendSpace.

Frankenmix 18.5 [Oct 07]
Early Morning Mix

1. A song of fire: “Fire in the Sky” – Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
There's a fire in the sky.
It's like the light in your eyes.

2. A song for never rhyming with anything: “The Pointless, Yet Poignant, Crisis of a Co-Ed” – Dar Williams
I'm not a leader.
I'm not a left-wing rhetoric
Mobilizing force of one.
But there was a time way back,
Many years ago, in college (don't laugh).

3. A song for sunshine: “Sunshine on My Shoulders” – John Denver
If I had a wish that I could wish for you,
I'd make a wish for sunshine all the while.

4. A song for atavistic urges: “Puer Natus Est Nobis” – the Benedictine Monks of Santo Domingo de Silos

5. A song for finding the horizon: “America” – Simon & Garfunkel
Counting the cars
On the New Jersey Turnpike,
They've all gone
To look for America.

6. A song for three o'clock in the morning: “Mercedes Benz” – Janis Joplin
Oh Lord, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz?
My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends.
Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends,
So Lord, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz?

[This is the kind of song my brain sings at 3a when I get a little loopy.]

7. A song for (pretending to be) royalty: “Pomp and Circumstance” - Edward Elgar

8. A song for the end of the rainbow: “Pastures New” – Nickel Creek
