Year in Review Memes, Pt 1

Happy New Year, everybody. I'm certainly not sad to see 2008 go.

I'll be meme-ing quite a bit. Sorry for spamming.

1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
gotten drunk, had a hangover, dropped out of college, gotten fired (happily, the first two had nothing to do with the third and fourth, and the fourth was temporary)

2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Didn't actually make any last year. This years' will be more like a to-do list.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Not that I know of.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
A's Derby and sorcha_gaia's Ellie; if pets don't count, you have no soul

5. What countries did you visit?
Didn't travel much this year. Atlanta doesn't count.

6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
sanity, a GPA that I'm not ashamed of

7. What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I have to look them up...

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I'm going to go with surviving to see the year end. It was a close thing, at points.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Um, everything?

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I think clinical depression counts, don't you?

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Does the lease on my apartment count?

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

13. Whose behavior made you appalled?
Mum, my boss

14. Where did most of your money go?
DragonCon, bills (now that I have bills to pay...)

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
The Vagina Monologues, fanfic, jd_ficathon, DragonCon

16. What song(s) will always remind you of 2007?
"Better" - A Class Act

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. Happier or sadder? sadder, definitely
ii. Richer or poorer? richer, in theory, but all that money's going to bills
iii. Thinner or fatter? Oh God thinner; I've decided to market a new diet technique: develop clinical depression, don't eat on bad days, (have no meds work for you or) stop taking your meds so they're all bad days, the pounds will melt right off! Yerk.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
studying, socializing

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
feeling sorry for myself

20. How did you spend Christmas?
Work, and then dinner with Da and his not!girlfriend. Talk about awkward.

21. Did you fall in love in 2008?

22. How many one-night stands?
None. God, I don't even remember the last time I kissed anyone, much less had sex.

23. What was your favorite TV program?
Stargate SG-1, Supernatural, Doctor Who

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I don't usually bother to expend the energy required to hate people, but new Assistant Manager is getting close...

25. What was the best book you read?
According to LJ, I haven't read any books this year. That's appalling.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Bitch's "Pussy Manifesto"

27. What did you want and get?
a new roof to live under

28. What was your favorite film of this year?

29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 21, and it was the first night of Passover. Had seder with family and C, and then we met up with A, A's then-girlfriend, C's best friend, and starkravingsane and we went out to Rehab, the gay bar down the street from my store. A good time was had by all.

30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Not being crazy. Is it really so much to ask?

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
"Does this smell clean to you?"

32. What kept you sane?
Not much, clearly.

33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Michael Shanks, though I totally fell for Obama's oratory

34. What political issue stirred you the most?
My guy won the election!

35. Who did you miss?
my sanity

37. Who was the best new person you met?
N and R from work, plus sorcha_gaia and theemdash and all the folks I finally got to meet at DragonCon

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008:
Alcohol and anti-depressants do not mix.

39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
Ask someone who's been insane: sane is better. "Better", A Class Act

And, for kicks, last year's answers.

(Huggles) But things are starting to settle down? (More huggles)

Also, the lease does count. Modern property law views you as the owner of the leasehold - you've effectively bought an interest in the property. (Hey, I should be able to use this shit for something, right?)
